Founder
Ahan Mehra, a Singapore high school student, began the Mallawan Village Foundation in an effort to bring broader opportunities to children from his ancestral Indian community.
With his zest for art, technology and entrepreneurship he worked closely with all swathes of society to realize his dream to give back. Ahan saw the potential and the capabilities of these children and wanted to build something that would help them soar. Ahan’s positive outlook fuelled by social conscience and a love for his ancestral culture continues drives the initiatives:
“My objective is to create a legacy of aspiration and possibility, where every child has a dream to become big and fly high in the sky. To bring into the light the joys of curiosity-driven education leading to self-reliance and a love of one’s own culture.” – Ahan Mehra
These ideas helped him frame Udaan, the central program which not only seeks to meet the art and technology skills development of individuals in the community but also cares for the community’s ancestral temple in the village. The temple acts as a resource and activity centre alongside its spiritual and historical significance.
Ahan raised funds, worked with teachers and local influencers, and motivated other members to work towards a worthwhile outcome for village participants. Udaan is turning into a movement under his bright guidance by not only empowering children but also restoring the sense of community in Mallawan Village.
About Us
Udaan is a social entrepreneurship venture that nurtures the ambitions in the hearts of children of Mallawan Village. It has its roots in the strong desire and commitment of the organisation’s Founder Ahan Mehra, aiming to empower children in his ancestral village, by giving access to various creative and technical vocational education. We do this by providing children with the means to develop and showcase their abilities, in order to start earning a decent living and gain recognition without depending on other people to do it.
Udaan is not only an educational platform, but also a paradigm that ensures the use of technology without losing tradition(s). We are confident that by developing who we are, we can aspire towards achieving what we wish. For this reason, we give our best to protect our cultural heritage by restoring the temple of our forefathers and turning it into a multifunctional center for prayer, educational and social activities.
Udaan also ensures each interested child in Mallawan village can stretch their arms and fly towards their aspirations. With strong community spirit and expert support, we are constructing a better future. A type of self-sufficient and integrative ecosystem encouraging the powers of student-focused education and heritage appreciation to bring further advances that enable the coming generations’ imaginations and ambitions to continue to grow.
Be part of this adventure to build a better tomorrow, one village at a time, with Udaan as the wind beneath our collective dreams.
